Ford marches to ninth-place finish at Wythe Raceway
On Thursday evening, Jensen Ford visited Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) to compete in the inaugural Kyle Larson Presents Late Model Challenge powered by Tezos event. In a stout field of 42 cars, Ford came in sixth in his heat before grabbing the fourth-and-final transfer spot in his B-Main. Starting the $20,000-to-win A-Main in 24th, Jensen was an early retiree on lap 17 due to power steering issues.
The following night at Wythe Raceway (Rural Retreat, Va.) for the Schaeffer’s Spring Nationals sanctioned contest, Jensen’s sixth-place finish in his heat race pinned him on the ninth row for the A-Main. With $10,053 on the line, Ford advanced through the field eight spots in the 53-lapper to place ninth.
For the weekend finale on Saturday at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tenn.), Ford came in ninth in his heat before placing sixth in his B-Main. Receiving a provisional into the $21,000-to-win Lil’ Bill Corum Memorial, Jensen improved one spot in the 60-lap affair to finish 22nd.
