Saturday night will feature the rainout Children’s Gold Rush. Gold Rush age groups: Up to three; four through six; seven through nine and 10 through 12. Over 10,000 coins will be divided up among the different age groups and the flagman will wave the green flag for the start of the GOLD RUSH. Double points racing will be featured in the R & C Super Street, FASTRAK Late Models, Modern Shoe Modifieds, UCAR, Pro Mini and Ucar2. The UCAR division has the closest points race, Ricky Ward, Marion has two points lead over Jon Keyes of Sugar Grove. Michael Deskins, Tazewell is 20 points ahead of Joe Bonham, Sugar Grove while Chilhowie driver Randy Taylor is one point behind Bonham. Keith Griffitts, Sugar is in fourth six points behind Taylor. Deskins leads the class in wins with four followed by Griffitts with three. Jake Phipps, Chilhowie leads the Ucar2 class by 19 points over Charlotte, NC driver Julianna Cooper. Bailey Wright, Marion is in fourth and leading the Rookie of the Year drivers. Ron Lawson, Austinville has 24 point lead over Justin Blevins of Marion. Lance Reynolds, Max Meadows has the biggest lead of any driver with a 38 point lead over Trevor Cregger, Christiansburg. Pro Mini driver Jason Powers, Marion has three wins and a 32 point lead over Shawn King, Wytheville who has six wins. On August 10, the Ultimate Super Late Models will make their first appearance of the 2013 racing season at the Big W, Wythe Raceway. A stellar group of the 900 horsepower Super Late Model drivers are expected to compete in the event. On August 17, the annual 100 lap UCAR race will be held with over 40 cars expected.
